Midsummer Festival

I took some time off school yesterday to help my mother prepare for the market that will run during the Easter weekend. Each year she sets up a clothing stall alongside the farmers, other artisans and antique sellers. It’s become a tradition, and a part of our family bonding, that my sister and I help at the booth until the clothes sell out. And since my mother is renowned for her fabrics and designs, her clothes sell out very quickly- soon after midday on the third day, in fact. After that, we’re allowed to have the rest of the day to ourselves and have whatever fun we want.

This year, Miguel and Scott are coming to the festival, so I think it would be great if I could spend some time with them. I would really love to try some stir-fried noodles from the Wok Warriors stand, or Aunt Louis' homemade cakes. Their delicious smells are always wafting over from the nearby food stalls and it always makes me so hungry. You know, I heard Miguel say that his grandmother once considered opening a stall at the festival. He talks a lot about how great her food tastes. I’d love to try some of her cooking one day as well.
